New Paintings
In this new body of work Aggenbach uses eroticism to explore insomnia, restlessness and illusion. These intimate paintings embody an uneasiness, where obscured lovers are captured in voyeuristic snapshots. Nocturnal actions are merged with pagan references in Harvest and in a new figurative work, Crown & Anchor, a classic nude is adorned in turbulent maritime tattoos. Nachtmusik was specifically produced for the 2011 Joburg Art Fair.
